 Enterprise Ireland is the government agency responsible for the development and promotion of the indigenous business sector. Our mission is to accelerate the development of world-class Irish companies to achieve strong positions in global markets resulting in increased national and regional prosperity.

County Limerick, situated in the Mid-West of Ireland, dates back to the year 1210 when King John of England set up the first 12 Irish Counties, of which Limerick was one.   The County itself comprises an area of approximately 2,735 square kilometres and contains 119 civil(i.e. pre-Reformation) parishes, 58 ecclesiastical parishes, 136 electoral divisions, 1,938 town-lands, 5 local government electoral areas and 2 Dáil Constituencies, East and West Limerick.   The total population of the County was 121,281(Census 2002) which showed an increase of 7.3% since 1996.Limerick County Council is the Local Government administrative body responsible for Limerick County and comprises an elected and executive structure.
  West Limerick Resources is a community development partnership company set-up under the Programme for Economic and Social Prosperity to manage government funding on a local level. We cover a catchment area of approximately 520 square miles in the west of county Limerick with a population of 64, 586 (2006 Census). Since our establishment in 1993, we have administered over €18 million in development funds which have been used to support to a wide variety of projects throughout our catchment area. These projects vary from education supports, to community enhancement projects to enterprise development but all offer a valuable contribution to the identity, values and strength of the community.
  Shannon Development is a government owned regional development company dedicated to promoting and developing the Shannon Region of Ireland.  We are based in Shannon, Co Clare with regional offices in Clare, North Kerry, Limerick, South Offaly and North Tipperary.
  Limerick County Enterprise Board was established in 1993 under the Department of Enterprise and Employment to promote the economic development of the county.

We help through providing general business start up advice, a wide variety of training and mentoring programmes and in some cases financial support.We are government funded and all our services are heavily subsidised so the main cost is not covered by the business owner.
